Dominik Steiger, born in Vienna 1940. University drop out. Joins the french foreign legion 1959 but was dismissed a year later for psychiatric reasons. 1961 first poems and beginning of a bohemian life. 1961-64 vagabondage through europe and asia. Published several books of poetry and prose since 1961. First drawings published 1972 by Günther Brus in his periodical 'Schastrommel'. Exhibitions of graphic works since 1975 in galleries throughout Europe. Ad hoc musician. LP of songs 'Wiener Lieder und Gemischte Waisen' published 1979 by Dieter Roth. In 2004 he received the honorary literature prize of the Republic of Austria and in 2008 the fine arts prize of the City of Vienna. Dominik Steiger died January 2014 in Vienna. A retrospective exhibition of his huge and diverse body of work is scheduled for November 2014 at Kunsthalle Krems, Austria.

In march 2013 the LP 'Ad Hoc Musi' collecting 29 songs recorded 1980-84 was published by Tochnit Aleph. The first 30 copies are signed and have an original pencil drawing by Dominik Steiger on the back of the sleeve. The exhibition at Rumpsti Pumsti (Musik) will present those 30 drawings, alongside other art-objects and the video 'Dominik Steiger als Kind' (1965) by Oswald Wiener.
